Breaking the Surface (BTS) – International Interdsciplinary Field Workshop of Maritime Robotics and Applications has been organized for 11 years in a row on the Adriatic Coast of Croatia (Murter and Biograd na Moru), gathering academics, scientists, industry representatives, students, legal experts and many other end-users in the field of maritime robotics and related applications.
BTS has for the last 11 years brought together the world’s renowned professionals and has encouraged interaction and the exchange of knowledge and experience. The programme consists of:
From 2016 to 2018, BTS also organized an “Innovation day“, a whole-day workshop where robotics experts, ranging from acclaimed researchers to the leaders of successful robotics startups, share their experience in commercializing robotics-related technologies with the rest of the scientific community and aspiring entrepreneurs.
University Fair in Zagreb is organized for high school seniors, college students and all other people who are interested. It has a task to timely inform all future students about college programs, achievements in certain areas, equipment available at certain colleges, teaching curriculums, creative places to get a job after college, new working environments available thanks to entrepreneurs and companies. It’s also a place where high school students can learn about accommodations during their college years, student life in generals and plethora of other things.
During the duration of University Fair in Zagreb the main goal is to help students with one of the most important choices in life – choosing a college to attend. We want to help them pick a college that is the best fit to their wishes, interests and talents and in that way set them on happy professional and life path.
University of Zagreb Fair 2019 was held from 21st until 23rd of November in Student center in Zagreb. FER, as one of the booths at the University Fair, was presented to high school seniors trough works of college students and employees with interesting presentations and interactive projects. They also had a chance to talk about opportunities during and after their college years which includes Erasmus, work and travel etc.
12th IFAC Conference on Control Applications in Marine Systems, Robotics, and Vehicles (CAMS 2019) and the first workshop on Robot Control (WROCO 2019) were held jointly at KAIST in Daejeon, Korea from 18th until 20th September 2019. This joint conference is to bring together leading scholars, researchers and students in relevant research areas across academia and industry to exchange ideas and to promote cross-disciplinary collaborations.
IEEE Croatian Students and Young Professionals Congress (CroSYP) is a three day long congress of students and young professionals conceived as an annual gathering that enables the exchange of ideas and experiences of members of the student branches of Croatia.
OCEANS is the bi-annual event for global marine technologists, engineers, students, government officials, lawyers, and advocates. These industry thought leaders gather for four days to highlight relevant topics and current trends, while creating a community of learners and influencers who consistently advance research, practices, and policies for the marine field.
Once a week all IEEE branch members are invited to a meeting to discuss new actions, promotions, expansions and to share their experiences with other branch members. During meetings members can also present their wishes and work to officials and other members so they can get quick feedbacks on their work, this is especially noticeable during the weeks of BTS during which the meetings are even more frequent. Once a year a general assembly is held in which all members of the IEEE branch participate and contribute.
Our members participated at the IEEE Croatia Section annual gala dinner and award ceremony held at Hotel International Zagreb on 27th of November.
